Lorac Kennel was established in 1977 by Carol Croninger (maiden name).   The foundation of the Lorac Vizsla program is CH. Paradox Magas Szalad "Megan", a daughter of CH Great Guns Riding High breed to a Behi Csecse Raketa CD, bred by Nancy Heinold DVM & David Heinold DVM of Paradox Kennel.   Megan was Carol's first show dog and she finished her championship with Carol handling her before 2 years of age.  She was only bred one time to BISS CH Scare-A-Moochee of Behi and had a litter of 9 puppies which produced one dual champion - Dual & AFC Mudsville Lorac Makk "Makk" (who won an AOM at the VCA National field trial at 11 years of age) , 2 champions - CH. Lorac's Limited Edition "Zook" (who also was a top ten puppy /derby field trial dog and having both puppy and derby points towards his Dual CH) and CH. Cadoka's Rycky of Lorac "Rycky" and another major pointed female.  Unfortunately Megan contracted Blastomycosis from running in tobacco barns in northern KY during field training and lost the battle while undergoing treatment at 3 years of age.  However, through her sons and another Paradox bitch - Ch Lorac's No Detour Terre Haute "Terre" (Reilloc's Tyke, CDX, TD x Behi CseCse Raketa), Lorac Kennel continued to grow their breeding program.   In 1984, Carol married Walter Sommerfelt, who incidentally attempted to purchase Terre from Carol while judging a puppy match prior to proposing.
Walter and Carol decided to continue the name of Lorac for all the dogs they exhibited and bred.  Walter introduced Carol to English Pointer, which they also bred and exhibited until to the early 2000. In the 1980/ 1990's Lorac Pointers were well known and produced some top winning and top producing Pointer.  One Lorac Pointer,  CH. Lorac's Simply Irrestible is still the #7 top producing Pointers of all time in the Pointer breed.   Walter was also involved in exhibiting Old English Sheepdogs and together they exhibited CH. Bahlamb's King Ambassador Boots - a top ten OES in the early 1980's.  Walter was also involved in Bearded Collies, having shown and finished a female when the breed was first brought into AKC - CH.
